Vicky Thornton established Northbrook in 1996. Both the idea and the name came from her time in the States, where Gift Wrap Fundraisers were popular. She decided to bring the idea to the UK and introduced it to a local school in Surrey. Since then Northbrook has grown rapidly and now works with hundreds of schools across the whole of the country.
Vicky and her colleague Diana carefully select all the designs and products. This year all of the papers have been manufactured in Western Europe, with the majority coming from the UK .The accessories also come from Western Europe and China and Taiwan. Their aim is to bring you a collection of high quality designs so that there is something for everyone.
Vicky believes in a proactive approach to the business and both she and Diana have run Northbrook gift wrap sales in their own children's schools - so they have real hands on experience!
Northbrook buy gift wrap paper from manufacturers who use wood pulp that comes from European Sustainable Forests. Sustainable Forests are forests that are farmed i.e. where trees are constantly being replanted to replace those that have been used. The forests that our manufacturers buy from have been accredited by either the Forest Stewardship Council ( FCA ) or the Programme for the Endorsement of Forest Certification ( PEFC ). These certified forests are managed to ensure long term timber supplies while protecting the environment. You can learn more about these forests by visiting:
